Cannot remove bold from text due to formatting applied through a style.
Cause:
The bold formatting has been applied through a style.
Solution:
Remove the formatting, and attach a template.
1) Remove the formatting using 'Replace...' and save as a Word document:
a) Save a copy of the document:
1] Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The Save As dialog box appears.)
2] Select 'Rich Text Format' from the 'Save as type' drop-down list box.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The Options dialog box appears.)
c) Click the 'General' tab.
d) Select the 'Confirm Conversion at Open' check box.
e) Click 'OK'.
f) Open the RTF file as 'Text Only':
1] Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open...'. (The Open dialog box appears.)
2] Select the folder and file from the 'Look in' list box.
3] Click 'Open'. (The Convert File dialog box appears.)
NOTE: The 'Convert File' dialog box appears because the 'Confirm Conversion at Open' check box was selected in the 'Options' dialog box.
4] Select 'Text Only' from the 'Convert File from' list box.
5] Click 'OK'.
g) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Replace...'. (The Replace dialog box appears.)
h) Type '\shad' in the 'Find What' box.
i) Do not type ANY text in the 'Replace With What' text box.
j) Click 'Replace All'.
k) Repeat steps h] through j], typing '\out' in the 'Find What' box.
l) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
m) Open the document again and save it as a Word document:
1] Open the document
2] Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The Save As dialog box appears.)
3] Select 'Word Document (*.doc)' from the 'Save as type' drop-down list box.
4] Click 'Save'.
2) Attach a template to the document:
a) Open the document.
b) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Templates...'. (The Templates and Add-ins dialog box appears.)
c) Click 'Attach...'. (The Attach Template dialog box appears.)
d) Select a template that contains clean styles, such as the 'Normal' template, from the 'Look in' list box.
e) Click 'Open'. (The Templates and Add-ins dialog box reappears.)
f) Select the 'Automatically Update Document Styles' check box.
g) Click 'OK'. (The styles from the template are attached.)
NOTE: Depending on the template selected, the appearance of the document may be altered.
